Men charged during investigation into car theft ring - Bendigo

Officers from Bendigo Divisional Response Unit have charged two men following an ongoing investigation into an alleged car theft ring in Central Victoria.

Yesterday, officers executed a search warrant at a motel room in Bendigo where the pair were arrested.

Investigators located and seized an allegedly stolen Toyota along with an amount of methamphetamine, approximately 13k in cash, prescription drugs, a police identity badge, and a number of electronic items used in the organised theft of motor vehicles.

A 19-year-old Long Gully man was charged with trafficking a commercial quantity of methylamphetamine and dealing in the proceeds of crime.

A 31-year-old man from Jackass Flat was charged with trafficking a commercial quantity of methylamphetamine, dealing in the proceeds of crime, (x4) theft of motor vehicle and possess Victoria Police identification without authorisation.

The pair were remanded to appear before Bendigo Magistrates’ Court on 23 April.
