More than $170K of drugs bound for schoolies seized in Mornington Peninsula

Mornington Peninsula police have arrested nine people and seized more than $170,000 worth of illicit substances in just a two-month period.

Police will allege some of the drugs – including cocaine, ketamine, MDMA, GHB, methylamphetamine and cannabis – were bound for Schoolies celebrations on the Peninsula, however, were intercepted before potentially causing harm in the community.

Detectives from the Mornington Peninsula Divisional Response Unit executed eight warrants in Capel Sound, Carrum Downs, Dromana, Frankston South, Mornington, Rosebud and Rye between late September to the end of November.

These warrants led to the arrests of nine people, including:

• A 24-year-old man from Dromana was arrested at a home on Beach Street on 18 November, where police seized a commercial quantity of cocaine worth $70,000, as well as dozens of MDMA pills. Police also located three prohibited knives, dozens of prescription medication, and quantities of 1,4-Butaendiol, ketamine and cash. It will be alleged in court that the man was trafficking drugs in the Dromana, Rosebud and Rye areas and was seeking to supply drugs to schoolies. He was charged with trafficking and possessing ecstasy. He was bailed to appear in Frankston Magistrates’ Court on 10 December.

• Two men aged 25 and 55 were arrested at a home in Rye on 23 October, after police seized quantities of several drugs of dependence, including cocaine, GHB, methylamphetamine, ketamine and ecstasy, as well as cannabis, four imitation firearms, a machete and cash. It will be alleged the pair was trafficking in the Dromana, Rosebud and Rye areas. The younger man was charged with trafficking and possessing drugs of dependence and possessing prohibited weapons. He was bailed to appear in Frankston Magistrates’ Court on 17 November, and will reappear later this month. The older man was charged with cultivating and possessing a commercial quantity of cannabis. He appeared in Dromana Magistrates’ Court on 27 November, and will next appear on 22 January 2026.

• A 45-year-old man was arrested for allegedly trafficking methylamphetamine in the Carrum Downs areas. He was charged with trafficking and possessing a drug of dependence, and commit indictable offence whilst on bail. There is a warrant for his arrest after he allegedly failed to appear in court.

• Two men aged 23 and 26 were arrested in Frankston South. It will be alleged the pair was trafficking cocaine from their home. Their charges included trafficking cocaine, possessing an imitation firearm. They are next due to appear in Frankston Magistrates’ Court in the New Year.

• A cannabis crop house was located and dismantled at a property on York Street, Rosebud. A 45-year-old man was charged with cultivate a narcotic plant and possess cannabis. He will appear in Dromana Magistrates’ Court on 11 December.

• A 56-year-old woman from Mornington was charged for allegedly possessing cannabis and was issued a caution.

In total, $172,000 worth of illicit substances were seized.
