Courageous action by a member of the Greensborough Highway Patrol has undoubtedly saved a man’s life following a collision in Greensborough this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Moodie and Elder streets about 1pm after reports a car had collided with the rear of another vehicle before crashing into a parked car.

It is believed the driver, a man in his 20s, was suffering a medical episode at the time and was not responsive.

The car caught fire and the Leading Senior Constable risked his life by entering the vehicle through the front passenger door and pulling the man through and out seconds before it became fully engulfed.

The driver was taken to hospital for treatment and there were no other serious injuries.
