Dandenong Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested a teenage boy and girl following an alleged attempted carjacking in Dandenong on Sunday evening.

Investigators have been told the female was putting petrol in her car at a service station on the Princes Highway near Potter Street when a white Ford EcoSport with no registration plates pulled up behind her on 18 May about 6.35pm.

The woman went into the store to pay and when she was returning to her car was confronted by three male offenders, at least one of which was allegedly armed with a machete.

One offender allegedly made demands for the victim’s keys and attempted to snatch them from her but she resisted.

During the scuffle the victim was allegedly struck in the arm with a machete before the offenders fled in the SUV.

The 29-year-old woman was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives this morning arrested a 15-year-old boy from the Baw Baw area and a 15-year-old girl from the La Trobe area.

The boy was charged with attempted aggravated carjacking, intentionally cause injury, theft of motor vehicle and weapon offences.

It expected the boy will appear before a bail justice later this evening where police will seek his remand.

A 15-year-old girl from the La Trobe area was interviewed and released pending summons.

Detectives will continue to make enquiries into the incident and the whereabouts of the other parties involved.

Anyone with information, who witnessed the incident or with CCTV/dashcam footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
