Stonnington Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man and woman following a pursuit through Melbourne’s inner-southeast on Friday.
Police spotted an allegedly stolen Nissan X-Trail in Port Melbourne 20 March about 4.15pm.
Officers attempted to intercept the vehicle before it allegedly evaded police and headed into the South Melbourne area.
With the assistance of the Police Air Wing, officers successfully deployed stop sticks before the vehicle was dumped on Bray Street.
The occupants are alleged to have fled on foot but were arrested nearby.
A 44-year-old Doncaster man has been charged with multiple offences including dangerous driving whilst pursued by police, theft of motor vehicle, handle stolen goods and possess drug of dependence.
He was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrate’ Court on 30 March.
A 34-year-old Brunswick woman was charged with multiple offences including theft of motor vehicle, handle stolen goods and possess drug of dependence.
She was bailed to appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 18 September.
It is alleged the Nissan was stolen from Franklin Street in Melbourne on 28 January.
