Pedestrian critical following Berwick collision

A pedestrian is fighting for life after they were struck by a car in Berwick last night.

Emergency services were called to the scene, on Clyde Road near Homestead Road, following reports a pedestrian had been hit by a car about 10.45pm.

The driver, who was travelling north, immediately stopped to render assistance and along with other motorists provided care to the man until emergency services arrived.

The 23-year-old pedestrian from Clyde North has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Greater Dandenong Highway Patrol are investigating.

At this early stage it is unclear how or why the pedestrian stepped out onto the road.
