Police clamp down on pair of tool thieves in Edithvale

Police have arrested two men accused of thefts from motor vehicles in Edithvale overnight.

Officers were called to Field Avenue following reports of two men behaving suspiciously about 3.10am.

It is alleged the pair was seen walking into driveways, attempting to open car doors and stealing tools from multiple vehicles.

Police quickly moved in, arresting one of the men on Ivan Avenue.

The second man fled on foot and was arrested in the backyard of a nearby property.

The 30-year-old from Wantirna South and 37-year-old from Dandenong are expected to be charged on summons.
