Police investigate Carlton stabbing

Two men have sustained serious injuries following a stabbing in Carlton last night.

Emergency services were called to Lygon Street, near the intersection of Argyle Place, about 11.45pm.

It is understood a group of up to seven males, armed with knives and machetes, set-upon the two victims outside a restaurant before fleeing in vehicles.

The two victims, a 20-year-old Heidelberg West man and an 18-year-old NSW man, sustained serious injuries and were transported to hospital.

Melbourne Crime Investigation unit detectives will investigate if the incident was a targeted attack.
