Police investigate Essendon non-fatal shooting

Detectives from the Armed Crime Squad are investigating following a non-fatal shooting in Essendon last night.

Police were called to Nimmo Street in Essendon shortly before 7pm to reports a man had been shot.

It is believed a number of males pulled up in a car while the 48-year-old Essendon man was walking on Spencer Street, before firing a number of shots at him.

The victim fled to Nimmo Street and the car left the scene.

The 48-year-old Essendon man was conveyed to hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Police believe the incident was targeted.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident remain ongoing.
