Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a man’s body in Tarneit this morning.

A number of male offenders arrived at a property on Darius Terrace in South Morang in a dark-coloured vehicle about 3am.

It is understood they forced entry to the house, armed with machetes, and assaulted a man who was asleep at the time.

Police were told the 30-year-old man was then dragged out of the house and into the vehicle which fled the area.

Another man and two children were inside the property at the time and were not physically injured.

Emergency services later responded to reports a man was located deceased in parkland near Bruny Drive about 4.30am.

He is yet to be formally identified but believed to be the 30-year-old South Morang man.

A postmortem will be conducted to determine the cause of his death.

No arrests have been made at this stage, and investigations are ongoing.
