Transit Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance to identify a man following an upskirting incident on a tram at Docklands on 25 October.
Police have been told the victim, a woman aged in her 40s and her friend boarded a route 70 tram outside Marvel Stadium just before midnight.
During the tram ride a passenger observed a male sitting across from the victim, filming up the victim’s skirt with his mobile phone.
The passenger alerted the victim and her friend confronted the offender and forced him to delete the video.
The man then exited the tram along Flinders Street.
Investigators have released a digital image and image of a man they believe could assist with their enquiries.
He is perceived to be Indian in appearance, aged late 30s to early 40s with short black hair, solid build and was wearing a denim jacket with a white sheep skin collar.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could assist police in identifying the man is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
