Declaration of the Designated Area under section 10D (1) of the Control of Weapons Act 1990
On 25 November 2025, a declaration under section 10D(1) of the Control of Weapons Act 1990 was advertised on the Victoria Police website Public notice: Melbourne CBD - Sunday 30 November 2025 to Friday 29 May 2026.
The Declaration declared the area referred to as “the Melbourne CBD and Vicinity” as a designated area from 12.00am 30 November 2025 to 11.59pm 29 May 2026.
The Assistant Commissioner, North West Metro Region, acting as a delegate of the Chief Commissioner of Police, declares that the previously published declaration will instead end on 9 January 2026 at 11.59 pm, being the date of the publication on this website and will therefore have had effect from 12.00am on 30 November 2025 to 11.59pm on 9 January 2026.
