Declaration of Designated Place under section 3A(2) of the Victoria Police Act 2013

I, Robert John HILL, Deputy Commissioner, Regional Operations, declare, under section 3A(2) of the Victoria Police Act 2013 (Act), the following location as a designated place.

The declared designated place will be in effect from 8.00 am on 1 July 2026 to 11.59 pm on 31 December 2026 inclusive.

I am satisfied of the matters specified in sections 3A(3)(a)-(c) of the Act in making this declaration.

Designated Place

The area that is declared to be a designated place is all public places within Northland Shopping Centre, Preston, being the area bordered by (and inclusive of):

  • the intersection of Murray Road and the Darebin Creek
  • north to the intersection of Darebin Creek and Wood Street
  • west to the intersection of Wood Street and the western fence line of Northland Shopping Centre
  • south to the intersection of the western fence line of Northland Shopping Centre and Murray Road, and
  • east to the intersection of Murray Road and Darebin Creek.

The map below illustrates the geographical boundaries of the declared Designated Place where Victoria Police protective services officers will be deployed.
