Six charged following South Morang kidnapping and body located in Tarneit

Homicide Squad detectives have charged six offenders as part of an investigation into the death of a man whose body was discovered in Tarneit last month.

Investigators executed eight search warrants in Wyndham Vale, Point Cook, Mambourin, Werribee and Tarneit shortly after 8am today.

Special Operations Group members took a 23-year-old Truganina man into custody at his home address.

Also taken into custody were four 17-year-old boys and one 18-year-old man.

The 23-year-old Truganina man and four 17-year-old boys were charged with murder, kidnapping, aggravated home invasion and criminal damage by fire.

The 23-year-old Truganina man has been remanded to appear before the Magistrates’ Court tomorrow morning.

The four 17-year-old boys will appear before a Children’s Court tomorrow morning.

An 18-year-old man from Point Cook was charged with assist offender and criminal damage by fire and remanded in custody to appear at the Magistrates’ court tomorrow morning.

The charges relate to the alleged kidnapping of a 30-year-old man from a Darius Terrace address in South Morang about 3am on 15 May.

It’s alleged the South Morang man was dragged out of his house and into a vehicle which fled the area.

Emergency services later responded to reports a man was located deceased in parkland near Bruny Drive in Tarneit about 4.30am.

It is also alleged the vehicle used in this incident was set alight on Mt Mary Road in Eynesbury later that morning.
