A motorcyclist is without his bike and will face a magistrate following an intercept in Keilor Park yesterday.

Officers from the State Highway Patrol’s Solo Unit detected the Suzuki motorcycle traveling at 130km/h in the 80km/h zone along the Calder Freeway, about 1.20pm.

Officers intercepted the rider and interviewed him for several traffic offences including exceeding the speed limit by 45km/h or more.

The 32-year-old Keilor Downs man had his motorcycle impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1014.90.

He is expected to be charged on summons to appear at a magistrate’s court at a later date.

National Road Safety Week is a timely reminder that road safety remains everyone’s responsibility.

Today and every day we ask road users to slow down and travel at the speed limit – it’s that simple.

Everyone has a role to play in reducing trauma on our roads.
