Teens charged following home invasion in Ivanhoe East

Mill Park Divisional Response Unit officers charged four teenagers following an aggravated home invasion in Ivanhoe East yesterday.

It is alleged four teenage boys, one armed with a machete attempted to force access to a residence on Longstaff Street about 5am.

The group were allegedly confronted by a resident, who was successful in stopping them from entering the property.

The offenders then fled the scene in a vehicle and were arrested in Mernda yesterday.

Two boys aged 15 from the Whittlesea area, a 14-year-old boy from the Hume area and a 15-year-old boy from the Darebin area have all been charged with aggravated home invasion.

The 14-year-old boy has also been charged with 10 counts of theft of motor vehicle offences that allegedly occurred in the Whittlesea council area in the past week.

The boys were remanded to appear before a children’s court today.
