Thomastown arrest

Police have arrested a man after a Toyota Hilux was allegedly stolen in Aberfeldie this morning.

Officers were told about 6.25am the ute had been stolen from Holmes Road, Aberfeldie about 3.30am and was now in South Morang.

The ute was spotted near Plenty Road and Gordons Road and took off on police.

Observations were kept on the ute and members were able to successfully deploy vehicle immobilisation devices on Epping Road.

The Hilux continued on until it was dumped by the driver in Gladstone Street, Thomastown.

He ran from the scene but was quickly arrested by police.

A 34-year-old man from Essendon is currently in custody and assisting police with their enquires.
