Three men are in custody following an extensive investigation by Manningham Crime Investigation Unit detectives into an alleged kidnapping, aggravated burglary and serious assault in Doncaster last month.
It is alleged the victims were contacted by an acquaintance who arranged to meet them on 22 September.
A 21-year-old man and 29-year-old woman, both from Doncaster, met with a man before driving to a nearby public location.
While at that location, a second vehicle arrived and the victims were assaulted and restrained by cable ties.
The victims were then taken to their home on Doncaster Road, Doncaster, where the property was ransacked and items stolen.
The offenders left the scene before police and paramedics attended.
The male victim sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital, where he underwent surgery.
Detectives commenced an extensive investigation and subsequently identified three persons of interest.
This morning, detectives executed a series of search warrants across Melbourne's south-east.
At a property on Sienna Crescent, Clyde, detectives executed a search warrant and arrested a 34-year-old man from Clyde North and a 40-year-old man from Clyde North.
Investigators also seized a vehicle believed to have been used during the alleged offending, along with a number of other exhibits.
At approximately 5:00am, a second search warrant was executed at Elwick Court, Noble Park, where detectives arrested a 40-year-old man from Noble Park.
A vehicle believed to have been used during the incident was also examined, along with additional exhibits.
The men are currently assisting police with enquiries.
Detective Senior Sergeant Rod Newbery, who led the investigation, praised the work of detectives involved.
"This was a calculated and violent incident that left a victim with very serious injuries," Detective Senior Sergeant Newbery said.
"The investigation involved significant work to identify those allegedly responsible and bring them before police."
"Let this serve as a warning to anyone who believes they can commit serious crimes within our community and avoid detection. Victoria Police will relentlessly pursue offenders and hold them to account."
The investigations remain ongoing.
