Two arrested following Vermont South stabbing

Transit Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested two men following a stabbing in Vermont South last month.

Police will allege one of the men approached a man while he was standing at a bus stop on Springvale Road about 4pm on 15 September.

Following a brief conversation between the pair, the victim was stabbed in the upper body.

The 37-year-old man was conveyed to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the pair fled the scene on foot.

Police will allege the parties were not known to each other.

Today, detectives executed search warrants at a residential property in Nunawading.

During the search, officers located and seized drugs of dependence, suspected stolen property and weapons including a machete, knife and firearms.

The two men were arrested at the scene and have since been interviewed in relation to the incident.

A 30-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with intentionally cause injury.

He will appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court this evening.

A 23-year-old Wendouree man was remanded to appear at Melbourne County Court on 22 October in relation to outstanding warrants.

A third man, aged 28 of Nunawading, was also arrested at the scene and charged in relation to the seized weapons.

He was charged with prohibited person – possess firearm and bailed to appear before Ringwood Magistrates’ Court on 28 November.
