Two men charged after tradies assaulted in Lara

Geelong Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged two men following an alleged home invasion and assault incident in Lara last month, where two tradesmen were seriously injured.

Five male offenders approached the two men who were working on a property on Sparrowhawk Avenue about 11.40am on Monday, 13 April.

It is alleged they entered the premises and assaulted the victims with weapons following a confrontation.

The 36-year-old man and the 35-year-old man were both taken to hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

The offenders fled the scene.

Police executed search warrants in Hoppers Crossing this morning as part of the investigation, where two men were arrested.

A 34-year-old man and a 44-year-old man were interviewed and charged with:

  • aggravated home invasion (offensive Weapon)
  • aggravated burglary (offensive weapon)
  • intentionally cause serious injury gross violence
  • intentionally cause injury
  • violent disorder

They will both face Wyndham Magistrates’ Court today.

Detectives believe three offenders are outstanding and the investigation remains ongoing.
