Woman assaulted and wig stolen in North Melbourne

Melbourne Serious Crime Team detectives are appealing for witnesses following a robbery at a North Melbourne market last month.

The female victim and storeowner was working at her market stall on Queen Street on Sunday, 14 December about 10.50am.

A man and woman approached the victim’s stall and attempted to steal multiple wigs.

The victim tried to stop the duo, before the woman punched her in the face and snatched a black wig.

The man and woman fled on foot.

The 44-year-old victim sustained minor injuries.

Detectives have released CCTV vision and stills of a man and woman who they believe will assist with their enquiries.

The woman is described as African in appearance, with a thin build, about 165cm tall, with short, dark hair.

She was wearing all black clothing, with black and white sneakers and a ‘Louis Vuitton’ handbag.

The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, with a medium build, and about 180cm tall.

He was wearing a grey ‘Puma’ jumper, dark pants, blue sneakers, light-coloured cap, pink headphones and carrying a backpack.
