Cold case: Jenny Rose Ng

  • Mother of four, Jenny Rose Ng, was stabbed to death at her Richmond housing commission flat while her eleven month old baby slept.

    On Friday, the 23rd of April 1982, Jenny Rose Ng’s body was discovered by two of her young daughters in their home in Richmond.

    She had been stabbed a significant number of times.

    Jenny was last seen alive that morning by her daughters and her eleven year old son as she helped them get ready for school.

    The kids left their flat to head to school at approximately 8:30am, leaving their mother with their baby sister.

    Homicide detectives are asking for your help in solving this case.

    Police were called to Jenny's Elizabeth Street flat on Friday, the 23rd of April, after her daughters had returned home from school for lunch at about 12:30pm, and discovered their mother's body lying on the lounge room floor.

    Their baby sister, aged eleven months at the time, was in a bassinet in her mother's bedroom, and she was unharmed.

    The pair then ran to a neighbour's property to raise the alarm and police were called.

    Detectives have established that a male entered Jenny's flat at approximately 10:30am on the day she was killed.

    Investigators are confident that this person was known to Jenny and ultimately may have been involved in her murder.

    To date, this person has not been identified.

    Jenny had separated from her husband at the time of her death, and the family was originally from Hong Kong.

    However, they were then living close by in Kew.

    Extensive inquiries have been made over the past 36 years.

    All the information detectives received was investigated, and several people have been interviewed in relation to Jenny Rose's death.

    However, detectives have been unable to solve the case.

    In September 1982, the government posted a $50,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the person or persons responsible for her death.

    And in 2018, police increased that reward to $1 Million.

    Jenny was 39 years old at the time of her death and was described as a devoted mother to her children and a dutiful daughter to her parents.

    Detectives are hopeful, that whilst almost 40 years have passed since her death, someone will be able to provide information about who was responsible for Jenny's murder and why.

Homicide Squad detectives are continuing to appeal for information in relation to the murder of Jenny Rose Ng in Richmond in 1982.
