How to report online with Victoria Police

Video transcript

Come home to find your house or car has been broken into? Your car stolen or registration plates missing? Notice your property has been damaged?

Report a crime or event online easily by searching “Report Online” in your browser.

Using this online portal, you can report stolen property including burglaries, vehicles, bicycles or other stolen items, lost property, and property damage.

You can report on behalf of yourself, someone else, or a business.

You can submit Partysafe registrations. You can also report Absence from Residence for when you’re away from home such as travelling.

All of these crimes and events you can report without having to call or visit a police station. Just enter your contact details and any information you have about the incident.

Don't have all the required information right now? By providing all of your contact details and clicking “Save & Continue,” you'll be sent an email with instructions of how to resume your report at a later time.

This link will expire after 30 days, so make sure you come back and complete it when you have all of your information.

In your report, you'll be asked to include things like location, time, and whether you have any photographic or video evidence, including CCTV.

You will then be sent a link, at a later time, to upload this evidence.

The more information you're able to provide increases the possibility of your property being located and returned, and an offender being identified and apprehended.

After you have submitted your report, it will be validated and allocated for investigation.

You will receive a Notice to the Victim, which includes a reference number for insurance purposes, support services, and the police station your case has been allocated to.

You can now “report online” anytime.
