About the A Shout From The Long Grass podcast

At dawn on the 25 October 1878, four Victoria policemen rode out to Mansfield. 

The policemen were Sergeant Michael Kennedy with Constables Michael Scanlan, Thomas Lonigan and Thomas McIntyre.

This podcast tells the story of the ambush on these policemen, as they tried to find and arrest Ned Kelly at Stringybark Creek.

Episode 1

In 1878, Constable Thomas McIntyre walks into farmhouse, bruised and severely injured. Find out what happens in the immediate aftermath of the deadly encounter at Stringybark Creek.

Episode 2

Constable Alexander Fitzpatrick attends the Kelly family home to arrest members of the Kelly family. After Ned Kelly fires a shot at an officer, he goes on the run into the dense bushland with his brother.

Episode 3

Thomas McIntyre is taken hostage by the Kelly Gang. He is trapped, unarmed and outnumbered, and believes this is his final day.

Episode 4

Back in the farmhouse, Thomas McIntyre recounts the attack. Despite his injuries, he rides back out to Stringybark Creek with a second search party to find his fellow officers.
