Message from the Chief Commissioner
Every day, Victoria Police works to keep people safe, support victims and respond to the issues that matter most to the community.
The 2026-27 Victoria Police Corporate Plan (the Plan) sets out how we will continue that work over the next 12 months to deliver our strategic direction A Safe Victoria: Victoria Police Strategy. The Plan outlines our focus on preventing harm, strengthening frontline policing and improving the service we provide to Victorians.
Community safety remains our core purpose. Victorians rightly expect police to be visible, responsive and focused on the crime and safety concerns that have the greatest impact on their lives. This plan reflects that expectation.
We will continue to put our people where they are needed most, reduce the barriers that take police away from frontline work, and invest in the technology, equipment and facilities our workforce needs to serve the community well.
This includes making police more visible in local communities. The deployment of 200 Reservists will provide support at station counters and with administration, freeing sworn officers for patrols and frontline duties. The State Crime Coordination Centre will also help us make better use of data and intelligence to deploy police resources and prevent crime.
We are also focused on recruiting the next generation of police. This includes through our new rural academies in Mildura and Gippsland, which will make it easier for people from regional communities to train closer to home and build a career serving Victoria.
We know the harm crime causes victims, families and communities. Supporting victims, holding offenders to account and helping prevent further harm will remain central to our work.
Road safety is another priority. Road trauma continues to affect too many Victorians, and we will work with our partners, use technology and focus police activity where it can make the greatest difference.
Through Neighbourhood Policing, we will keep listening to local communities and working with partners to respond to local safety issues. Strong relationships are essential to effective policing and to building trust.
Our service must be fair, respectful and inclusive. We will continue working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, supporting cultural rights and strengthening the way we serve all Victorians.
I am proud of the dedication and professionalism of Victoria Police employees. Every day, they respond to complex and challenging situations with commitment and care. Their work gives me confidence in what we can achieve together.
Over the next 12 months, our focus is clear: to reduce harm, build trust and help every Victorian feel safe in their community.
Victoria Police is here for you.
