Training in Mildura is expected to begin on 18 January 2027.

You will train with other local recruits before being deployed in regional Victoria.

Final details will be confirmed before the program begins.

Training in a regional location may help you:

• stay close to home, family and community
• build strong connections
• prepare for policing in regional areas.

This approach also supports regional communities by building a local policing workforce.

If you complete training, you will work in regional Victoria.

For the Mildura intake, roles are expected in the Mallee region (northwest Victoria), including:

• Mildura
• Swan Hill
• Kerang, and,
• Robinvale.

More locations may be added.

You will usually stay in your first posting for at least two years.

You must apply and be accepted as a police officer.

Places are limited for each intake.

After completing your training, you will be deployed to a police station in the Mallee region.

You may be posted to locations such as:

• Mildura
• Swan Hill
• Kerang
• Robinvale.

You will not need to go through the standard ballot process, where police can be assigned anywhere across Victoria.

You’ll stay in your initial posting for at least two years to qualify for a ballot exemption. After this time, you can choose to stay in your role or apply to transfer to another location.

Mildura is part of a regional training initiative. The Mildura training location is not permanent.

If successful, the program may move to other regional locations in future.

There may be another intake later in the year, but it is not confirmed.

In the Mallee region, there are multiple roles available across the division.

You can apply straight after finishing school, and if you are still in school and 18 already, you can apply right now.

While we value life experience, younger applicants may still be suitable if they demonstrate maturity and the right capabilities.

You do not need a VCE qualification to apply, even if you are aged 18 to 21.
