    You will complete an online application form with your information and some longer written responses.

    • birth certificate
    • proof of citizenship, permanent residency, or a special category visa status (in the case of New Zealand)
    • change of name documents (if applicable)
    • valid Australian driver licence (provisional licences are accepted)

    Successful applicants will complete training at the Victoria Police Academy in Glen Waverley.

What happens after you apply

After you submit your application:

  • our recruitment team will assess your application and written responses
  • if you meet the requirements, you will be invited to progress to the next stage of the recruitment process
  • suitable applicants will move through multiple stages, including assessment and testing.

The recruitment process usually takes between 3 to 6 months to complete. All successful applicants must complete police training before starting their role.

Previous policing experience

Prior policing experience from across Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom may be recognised when applying for a role as a Victoria Police officer.
