Victoria Police is proud to serve a diverse community.
Our police officers and employees are drawn from broad and diverse communities to reflect the community we serve.
A diverse, inclusive and respectful workforce means we are better equipped to support one another and form stronger links with all communities.
Victoria Police recognises and values the different attributes, life experiences, capabilities and skills that each employee brings to our organisation.
The Diversity and Inclusion Framework 2017 - 2020 articulates Victoria Police's commitment to embracing the diversity of its workforce and facilitating an environment, which is inclusive and safe from discrimination, sexual harassment victimisation and bullying.
The framework, highlights the organisation’s commitment to deliver dedicated strategies and action plans for each of the following priority areas:
- Gender equality
- Lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and gender diverse, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ) peoples
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
- Culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) peoples and
- Peoples with disability.
These strategies and action plans consider what is required to achieve our vision at all stages of the employee life cycle, including attraction, recruitment, retention and separation.
