Our corporate governance teams define the strategic direction, core values, and practices of Victoria Police.
Leadership and governance
Our Chief Commissioner, Executive Leadership Board, Police Command, oversight bodies, and standing committees provide strategic direction through robust corporate governance.
Chief Commissioner
The Chief Commissioner of Police leads Victoria Police.
The Chief Commissioner reports to the Minister for Police, the Hon. Anthony Carbines MP.
The Chief Commissioner also works closely with:
- the Minister for the Prevention of Family Violence (the Hon. Natalie Hutchins MP)
- the Minister for Roads and Road Safety (the Hon. Melissa Horne MP), and,
- the Attorney-General (the Hon. Sonya Kilkenny MP).
Executive Leadership Board
Victoria Police's Executive Leadership Board sets the strategic direction of Victoria Police.
The Executive Leadership Board monitors our:
- organisational performance
- determine key priorities and risks, and,
- manage organisational capacity and capability.
The board is comprised of:
- Our Chief Commissioner
- four Deputy Commissioners, and,
- two Deputy Secretaries.
Our organisational structure explains the roles that make up the Executive Leadership Board.
Executive Command
Victoria Police Command discuss significant community and organisational issues.
Members of the Command are made up of:
- the Chief Commissioner
- Deputy Commissioners
- Deputy Secretaries
- Executive Directors
- Assistant Commissioners
- Commanders, and,
- Directors.
External oversight bodies
Oversight bodies we work with include:
- Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission
- Office of the Victorian Information Commissioner
- Public Interest Monitor
- Victorian Auditor General’s Office
- Integrity Oversight Victoria (formerly Victorian Inspectorate)
- Victorian Ombudsman.
Standing Committees
Victoria Police also works with standing committees to:
- focus on strategic objectives
- manage risks, and,
- improve performance.
