The Victoria Police Code of Conduct – professional and ethical standards provides the basis for our professional practice and defines the expected standards of behaviour and conduct.

Policies and procedures

Victoria Police policies and procedures are published in the Victoria Police Manual (VPM).

The VPM sets the behavioural, operational and administrative standards for the organisation.

It is divided into:

  • policy rules, which provide mandatory accountabilities, and
  • supporting procedures and guidelines.

The VPM is an electronic document and is available on disc for purchase by the public.

You can purchase a single copy or an annual subscription by submitting an order form available below.

Alternatively, you can access the VPM for free from the Serial Section of the Victorian State Library.

Legislation

Victoria Police operates under the Victoria Police Act 2013.

Victoria Police enforce and prosecute traffic and criminal laws embodied in state and commonwealth Acts of parliament.
