Vehicle collection locations

Information on impound locations in Melbourne and regional Victoria, and on how to collect your vehicle.

Metropolitan impound locations

55 Raglan street, Preston

Collection Time: 9am to 5pm.

This office is closed to the public on weekends and public holidays.

Please note that we can only release the motor vehicle and or property to the registered operator. If you are collecting the motor vehicle on behalf of the registered operator, a completed Third Party Authority form will be required upon collection. If the motor vehicle is registered to a Company, the motor vehicle can only be released to the Director of the company and an ASIC document is required upon collection. If the director can not attend then they may make use of the Third Party Authority form. You can find more information about collecting a company registered vehicle on our Vehicle impounds page.

You are required to notify us 48 hours before you intend on collecting your vehicle.

To notify us of your intended time and date of collection you need to send an email to VISU-LOGISTICS-MGR@police.vic.gov.au and include the following information:

  • your impound reference number and/or motor vehicle registration number
  • the time and date you would like to collect the motor vehicle

Regional impound locations

If your vehicle is not being stored at 55 Raglan Street Preston it will be at one of our regional impound locations. We suggest you make contact with the contractor of the regional impound location where your motor vehicle is being held before you attempt to collect your vehicle.

This will allow you to find out the following:

  • the location’s opening hours
  • the location’s details
  • the payment methods accepted at that location
  • how to make a property collection appointment

We can only release the motor vehicle and or property to the registered operator of the vehicle.
