Flight path protection plan: Pre-application service

We can provide advice prior to the planning process when you are considering building near the Victoria Police Centre (VPC).

When considering developing a new building near the Victoria Police Centre (VPC), you must first submit a pre-development proposal to your local council.

Victoria Police can assist you by reviewing your completed proposal before you submit.

What we can help you with

We can assist you in the planning process by providing advice on your pre-application proposal.

We can provide advice on:

  • how your development may impact the flight path towards the Victoria Police Centre Helicopter Landing Site
  • which zone the development may impact
  • how to minimise or remove any potential impacts.

Information you need to provide

To help us review your proposal, provide us with a written description of your plans.

Include as many details as possible to help us understand your request and provide an appropriate response:

  • address for the planned development site
  • site and location plan, including property boundaries and relevant measurements
  • proposed buildings
  • proposed works
  • use for the proposed building
  • technical details
  • project information
  • development proposal plans (including elevations)
  • other relevant factors.

Provide all height levels in metres to Australian Height Datum 1971 (AHD71).

Submit your pre-application proposal to VPC-FLIGHTPATHPROTECTION-OIC@police.vic.gov.au.

Review of your pre-application proposal

After we have reviewed your pre-application proposal, we will contact you to advise whether your proposed development impacts the flight path.

Time-frames for assessment

We may refer to our town planners for advice. This may cause some delays.

We appreciate your patience and will make every effort to review your proposal as soon as we can.

After your assessment

If we asses that your proposed development will not impact the flight path, you can submit your completed proposal to the relevant planning authority assessment and approval.

The relevant planning authority will then review your planning proposal. They may then formally refer the planning application to Victoria Police.

Fees for pre-application advice

There are no fees for this service.
